Rick Feds is considered one of the best finger-drummers worldwide, endorsed by industry standard brands such as Arturia, Embodme, Neumann, Pearl Drum, and Ableton – who included Feds in their top 5 performers list for two years in a row. As multi-instrumentalist, producer, and audio-visual artist with a unique approach to controlling all sonic and visual elements simultaneously, Feds aim to push the boundaries of interactive art forms to shake the live music world.
Growing up with classical music in Latvia, Feds then studied jazz in Copenhagen, and from Denmark he found his way to the USA to continue studying at the University of The Arts in Philadelphia. There he became a session musician performing with classic soul music artists like Betty Wright, Cuba Mark Gooding Sr.(RIP), and Marcus Miller, before joining the Fulbright residency and going back home to develop his practice to its current state, adding many elements along the way such as drums, synthesisers, ATMOS sound, visuals, lights, and augmented reality.
Feds’ mastery on the sample pad, as well as technical innovations, have been discussed around the globe, creating a buzz around his high energy live performances that electrify all types of audiences: he was a headliner at NAMM Los Angeles in 2023, and had solo shows at The Cutting Room and Rockwood Music Hall (NY), and SxSW among other famed spots; he also opened shows for James Arthur, Jungle, and AraabMuzik, and created AV performances for brands like Adidas, Coca Cola, and Lamborghini.
